Temporary Position: Database Assistant

Are you interested in honing your database skills and supporting women with ovarian cancer? Then we want to meet you!

The Ovarian Cancer National Alliance is looking for two database assistants for a temporary, fulltime position (40 hours/week for approximately two weeks). Applicants will assist the Alliance by removing duplicates from our donor database, combining records as appropriate and updating donor records.

This a great opportunity to support our cause, work with a fun, friendly staff and learn about nonprofit development.

Duties include:

  • Working in Donor Perfect Online to remove duplicate records and combine existing records.
  • Updating donor records in Donor Perfect.
  • Communicating regularly to development staff on progress of the project.

Qualifications include:

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, in a fast-paced environment while meeting project deadlines.
  • Attention to detail a must.
  • High level of computer proficiency preferred.
  • Experience with Donor Perfect, Raisers Edge or other donor databases highly preferred.
  • Proficient in internet research, navigation and Excel.
  • Ability to type quickly and accurately.

National Conference Advocacy Day Internship

Are you interested in learning valuable skills and supporting women with ovarian cancer? Then we want to meet you!

The Ovarian Cancer National Alliance is looking for an intern to join our team for 2-3 days per week during normal business hours (16 hours per week) from February through April and full time May through July to help coordinate the Alliance’s annual Advocacy Day. This is a unique opportunity to aid a great cause while gaining experience with policy development and conference planning with a national organization and general aspects of the workings of a nonprofit.

This position will actively support our National Conference and specifically our Annual Lobby Day. More information on our National Conference is available at: www.ovariancancer.org/annual-conference.

Duties include:
• Support Director of Field Engagement with projects related to content creation, speaker recruitment and organization
• Support the Director of Field Engagement and Policy Director in preparation of briefing materials, correspondence, and mailings for the Annual Lobby Day
• Support the Policy Director in developing key ‘asks’ for Advocacy Day
• Research and compile fact sheets for Advocacy Day asks for dissemination to advocates and Hill staff
• Manage contacts for annual Advocacy Day visits
• Foster relationship with Hill staff
• Create and maintain master schedule for 200+ advocates with Hill staff for Advocacy Day
• Research biographical information on legislators
• Preparation of briefing materials, correspondence, and mailings
• General office administration
• Available to work in office 10 – 15 hours per week at minimum wage from February through April and extended hours May through July
• Attend Conference Committee meetings
• General office administration such as: organizing office files, making copies of event materials, compiling sponsor presentation materials
• In addition, interns are expected to answer phones and perform general office tasks.

Qualifications include:
• Current student, University Junior or Senior preferred
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, in a fast-paced environment while handling multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Excellent organizational skills
• Ability to find solutions and think creatively
• Ability to synthesize data in a concise format
• Can do attitude, strong interpersonal skills, enthusiastic, with a positive outlook
• High level of computer proficiency
• Great written and verbal communications skills

National Conference Internship

The Ovarian Cancer National Alliance is looking for an intern to join our team for 2-3 days per week during normal business hours (16 hours per week). Longer hours around Conference should be expected. This is a unique opportunity to aid a great cause while gaining experience with fundraising, special event planning, conference planning with a national organization and general aspects of the workings of a nonprofit.

This position will actively support all aspects of our National Conference. More information on our National Conference is available at: www.ovariancancer.org/annual-conference.

Duties include:
• Assist all aspects of National Conference such as sponsor recruitment, assembling packets and goodie bags, creating event mailings, recruiting volunteers, tracking donations and registrations and day of event production
• Compile historical giving records of past sponsors and research new prospects
• Research ways to market the conference to those with a vested interest in the National Conference.
• Attend Conference Committee meetings
• Support all aspects of National Conference scholarship program
• Support Conference Committee with projects such as Honoring the Journey, National Garden of Hope and the Party
• Support Director of Field Engagement with projects related to content creation, speaker recruitment and organization
• Organize Alliance materials for conference and oversee distribution
• Support Community Engagement Associate by fielding informational requests about the National Conference, answering questions about registration and assisting with exhibitor registration
• Keep conference materials up-to-date on website
• Track registration reports and provide analysis to Director of Development
• Contact past attendees to invite them to return for 2014
• Solicit donations from companies for conference and third party event giveaway
• General office administration such as: organizing office files, making copies of event materials, compiling sponsor presentation materials
• In addition, interns are expected to answer phones and perform general office tasks.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, in a fast-paced environment while handling multiple priorities and meet deadlines

• Attendance at our 17th Annual Conference (July 11-14) is expected. Extended hours during the two weeks prior to the conference is also preferred.
