Proceeds from the dinner enable OCNA to focus its work on more of the research, education, and awareness that are essential to the fight against ovarian cancer. The number of women diagnosed in the early stages is so small that the survival rates are low. In the more than 30 years since the War on Cancer was declared, ovarian cancer mortality rates have not improved significantly. About 22,000 women in this country will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2008 and more than 15,000 women will die from the disease.
“With the help of last year’s benefit donations, OCNA can point to many successes this year in its efforts to help save women’s lives,” says Karen Orloff Kaplan, Chief Executive Officer of OCNA. “The most recent example is working with Congress to double appropriations for the Department of Defense Ovarian Cancer Research Program, which helps many scientists with the resources needed to find an early detection test for ovarian cancer and eventually, a cure.”

The Five Rivers Celebrate a Goddess Campaign is a celebration of women who have survived or are courageously battling ovarian cancer. In 2008, over 22,000 women were diagnosed with this disease and Five Rivers has partnered with the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance (OCNA) to raise awareness and help find a cure for ovarian cancer.
Over the past year, Five Rivers has donated more than $10,000 to OCNA and we ask that you please consider joining us in our efforts to raise awareness for ovarian cancer and celebrate the goddesses in our lives.
Please go to www.fiveriverswinery.com to find out more.
The goddess asks that you enjoy her wines responsibly.
A special thank you to our corporate sponsors this year
