Purpose
The purpose of the Partner Member program is twofold:
- the Alliance offers Partner Members a national identity and a national presence in Washington, D.C.,
- and Partner Members give the Alliance an increasingly powerful voice as an advocate for federal funding to make sure this disease gets attention and research dollars to find a cure.
The Alliance currently has about 50 Partner Members in communities large and small whose main goal is to raise ovarian cancer awareness and serve as advocates on the local, state and national level to increase the funding and resources for this disease. The Partner Members, representing 32 states in our country, have joined with us to expand and enhance research funding, provide education and increase awareness about ovarian cancer. Their coordinated efforts have positively altered the way the medical and research establishment, the media, and policy leaders view and understand this deadly disease.
Together the Alliance and the Partner Members nationwide fulfill our mission to conquer ovarian cancer by uniting individuals and organizations in a national movement.
This year, the Alliance marks its 10th anniversary. To address the needs of ovarian cancer, the Alliance has led the way in developing a National Agenda for Ovarian Cancer – a broad, comprehensive mandate to advance ovarian cancer research and patient care well into the next decade. The platform establishes measurable goals to evolve research, improve access to quality care and expand the advocacy movement.
Even as we celebrate our decade of action and progress, we still find that now is the time to call for an even more united national effort – and it is for that fight that the Alliance needs you. We need you as a member of the Alliance. Now, more than ever, we need you. There is much work to be done. We appreciate your help in joining with us.
By joining together, we CAN and WILL make a critical difference in the lives of women with ovarian cancer.
