If ever there was a time to be in Washington, D.C., it's NOW!
The Ovarian Cancer National Alliance’s annual conference is about you, and the part you play in helping to find a cure. It’s about empowering you to use your story, your voice, and your commitment – together with other stories and other voices – until the sounds we make are heard loud and clear by everyone who can help make a difference.
For the past 11 years, since the founding of the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance, we have worked hard to bring the issues surrounding this deadly disease to the attention of legislators; to increase funding for medical and scientific research, and to increase awareness about the symptoms of ovarian cancer so that more women (and their doctors) will know how to identify it in the early stages, when survival is highest.
With a new Administration and Congress dedicated to Healthcare Reform, this is the year to be in Washington, D.C. As an organization devoted to advocacy and awareness, the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance needs to educate new policy makers about ovarian cancer. They are eager to learn from us – and especially from you.
This is the time. This is the place. This is the Conference where you can make a difference. We hope you will join forces with us in the nation’s capitol this July as we work together to further our cause.
Following the Conference theme this year “A Celebration of Life”, we are offering new programs, activities and workshops to help inspire you to be part of the change such as:
Advocacy
- Advocacy workshops to help train survivors, family and friends about how to participate in Lobby Day on Capitol Hill, one of the most rewarding experiences you can have during Conference week. It is an opportunity to meet one-on-one with your elected officials and their staff to share your personal story about ovarian cancer as well as ask for their support on a number of Federal efforts that are essential to conquering this disease.
- Discussions about the recent political gains we’ve made over the past year and the battles still to be fought.
Education
- Bigger and better Clinical Trials, Early Detection and Treatment Options Forum to help educate you about a variety of current options and resources for eligibility.
- Lectures from notable clinicians and researchers in the areas of clinical trials and new or emerging technology and treatments.
Awareness
- Introducing a designated reception area called “Legacy Corner” where women are invited to share their unique stories about overcoming cancer. The “Legacy Corner” will provide a place to rest, share, and participate in the conference in a more personal manner.
- Workshops, social and support events for survivors and their family members on timely issues about living with ovarian cancer.
The 12th Annual Ovarian Cancer National Alliance “Celebration of Life” Conference is the conference you do not want to miss. Join us in Washington, D.C. and help keep the pressure on to find an early detection test, to find a cure, to know that our voices matter.
This is the time. This is the place. This is the Conference that will help you can make a difference. If ever there was a time to be in Washington, D.C., it’s NOW!
Sincerely yours,
The Ovarian Cancer National Alliance Team
