Like many daughters, my world fell apart when my Mom, Laurel, was diagnosed in April 2008 with IIIc ovarian cancer. Little did I know that 17 months later, having just potty trained my youngest son and signed up for Room Mom at preschool, that I would meet the same earth shattering diagnosis. I am BRCA negative, my Mom was never tested. Sadly, she passed away in July 2012 after a 4 year battle. Diagnosed in Sept 2009, I am thrilled to share I’ve only had one recurrence and I’m a not only a room mom again, but on the PTA board at my boy’s elementary school. Life can still go on and be pretty sweet. Stay vigilant, but keep the faith!
