Beth Karlan, MD, was recently appointed to the National Cancer Advisory Board. Dr. Karlan is a member of the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance’s Scientific and Medical Advisory Board; the organization recommended her for this position.

Dr. Beth Karlan is the Board of Governors’ Endowed Chair in Gynecologic Oncology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, a position she has held since 1995. She has been Associate Director of Women’s Cancer Programs at the Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute since 2010 and Editor-in-Chief of Gynecologic Oncology since 2008. In addition, she has served as Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California at Los Angeles since 2001 and as the Director of the Division of Gynecologic Oncology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center since 1995.
The Ovarian Cancer National Alliance is the foremost advocate for women with ovarian cancer in the United States. To advance the interests of women with ovarian cancer, the organization advocates at a national level for increases in research funding for the development of an early detection test, improved health care practices, and life-saving treatment protocols. The Ovarian Cancer National Alliance educates health care professionals and raises public awareness of the risks and symptoms of ovarian cancer. The Ovarian Cancer National Alliance is a 501 (c) (3) organization established in 1997.
