Washington, DC – GFour Productions, producers of the hit show Menopause The Musical® has formed a national partnership with the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance to raise awareness and to help fund education and support programs for ovarian cancer patients and survivors. The Ovarian Cancer National Alliance is the national charity of Menopause The Musical®, which begins its 31-city Summer and Fall tour in Washington, DC, August 15-19 at the Warner Theatre.
GFour Productions and Menopause The Musical® will support the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance with a special $5 donation for each ticket sold using the promo code “TEAL”. The TEAL code will be good on any full-price ticket in any city on the Summer/Fall 2012 tour. Additionally, GFour Productions will donate the net proceeds from the sale of their Menopause The Musical® “Hotflash Fans” which are sold in the theater lobby prior to each performance. Funds raised through the partnership will benefit ovarian cancer education and support programs provided by the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance and its 61 national Partner Members.
The Ovarian Cancer National Alliance unites the medical, research and legislative communities with women and families affected by ovarian cancer. The Alliance advocates for evidence-based medicine, reimbursement for medical necessary interventions and increased federal funding for ovarian cancer research. The organization educates health care providers about ovarian cancer risks, symptoms and diagnosis, with the goal of increasing prompt diagnosis. Approximately 22,000 women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2012. This disease is the deadliest gynecologic cancer and the 9th most common cancer among women.
To kick off the national partnership, Patti Gardner, who will play Soap Star during the summer Menopause The Musical® tour, performed at the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance Conference in Washington, DC on Sunday, July 15 at 7:00 p.m.
“GFour Productions is proud to partner with the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance to raise awareness and funds for a cause that we are passionate about,” says Ken Greenblatt, Chief Executive Officer of GFour Productions. “Menopause The Musical® is honored to be able to give to this wonderful organization and we hope that our contribution will make a difference in the lives of the brave women affected by this devastating disease.”
“The Ovarian Cancer National Alliance is thrilled to partner with Menopause the Musical to reach women all over the country,” said Terri McKnight, Board President of the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance. “This partnership is a fun way for us to reach women with a serious message about ovarian cancer.”
Menopause The Musical® is produced by GFour Productions and is the work of writer Jeanie Linders. The laughter-filled 90-minute production includes parodies from the classics of the ‘60s and ‘70s and ‘80s. It is estimated that nearly 11 million women have attended a performance since the 2001 opening in Orlando, Florida. Inspired by a hot flash and a bottle of wine, writer and producer Jeanie Linders created the show as a celebration of women who are on the brink of, in the middle of, or have survived “The Change.” Menopause The Musical has entertained audiences across the country in more than 450 U.S. cities, nearly 300 international cities and a total of 15 countries.
