History of Pelvic Inflammatory Disease Doubles the Risk of Ovarian Cancer
A Taiwanese study of approximately 200,000 women found that 90 women developed ovarian cancer during the three year period during which the study took place. Approximately twice as many women with Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID), based on the percentage of women with PID, developed ovarian cancer compared to those who did not have PID. Therefore, researchers believe that PID may be a risk factor in developing ovarian cancer.
