Removal of Ovaries During Hysterectomy an Option

A study shows that women who have their ovaries removed during a hysterectomy have lower rates of ovarian cancer than women who only have a hysterectomy, although rates for both groups was low. More than 300 women would have to have the more aggressive surgery to prevent one case of ovarian cancer. Researchers found that the rates of hip fracture and heart disease were similar in both groups of women.
