A dvocacy Day on “The Hill”

L ife Changing!

Thank you so very much for providing me with the opportunity to attend the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance Conference this year. Because of the generosity of OCNA, and the benevolence of the conference sponsors, I was able to attend not only the conference itself, but also Advocacy Day!

The educational workshops I attended were not only informational but also motivational! One thing I’m sure of; the more you know the more you realize there is to know. This conference helped fill in so many gaps in the knowledge base of my information about the disease. I feel more confident already in my role as the Madison, Wisconsin facilitator of the Survivor’s Teaching Students Saving Women’s Lives© program.

It was all topped off by going to Capitol Hill, and walking the hallways of power, meeting with the staff of our elected representatives. This was inspirational. One hundred advocates visited the offices of their elected officials on that last day. It felt absolutely amazing to be among them, fighting for our cause!

On a more personal note – I feel empowered – as a survivor. Meeting others who are living with this disease; women living vibrantly, fully, and without hesitation; this was uplifting to witness.

My deepest gratitude to the staff of OCNA and the wonderful conference sponsors. You’re changing the world; one survivor at a time, and one well-informed woman at a time!
