Hey everybody!
It’s approaching my one-month “anniversary” as an Ovarian Cancer National Alliance Communications Intern so I thought as a way of introducing myself I’d share my experiences with the organization.
One of my first major projects has been setting up a mini ovarian cancer awareness campaign by donating clothing, gifts and ovarian cancer symptom cards to a local women’s shelter. The Hannah House is a transitional housing facility for homeless women and their children to rehabilitate themselves before starting their lives over. After visiting the shelter and taking a brief tour, I thought about how important it is for organizations like the Hannah House and the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance to work together to reach out to women who need help. The women who are served by the Hannah House have many obstacles to overcome and I can only imagine how much harder their lives would be should they ever be diagnosed with ovarian cancer. By doing our small part to bring ovarian cancer awareness to our local community, I can’t help but feel like we have the chance to save women’s lives.
Thank you, Hannah House, for helping us fulfill our mission!
