InStyle magazine’s December issue features eight dedicated famous faces and the charitable organizations they support. In this special section called “Shining Stars,” Janet Jackson is featured supporting the work of the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance.

Janet Jackson first learned about the organization after reconnecting with an old friend. Kendal had been diagnosed with ovarian cancer at age 34. Fortunately, she has been in remission for nine years now. Kendal asked Janet to get involved and help spread awareness about ovarian cancer because not enough women know about the disease. “It really frightens me that not a lot of women know about this disease and by the time they find out about it, it’s too late,” says Jackson.

In 2008, Cartier named Janet Jackson as one of their LOVE ambassadors. With this honor, Janet designated the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance as her charity of choice and recipient of Cartier’s LOVECHARITY campaign. Over the past two years, this campaign has raised over $181,000 to benefit the work of the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance.
